OK, you're talking about the cotton plates for gin run seed, not acid delinted right?  IIRC there is a bottom ring with an oval slot that went over the gear/saws looking 'kicker'.  Then the 'sunburst' plate on top.  As the sunburst wheel rotated the kicker pulled the seed down thru the oval hole and threw it into the seed tube.
