With feeder house switch on, Dial A Matic switch must be on 1, 2, or 3, machine does not have to move, if head is up, press header switch down once, this should activate the system ( the separator does not need to be on ) and the header should drop to ground, then by turning the DAM switch in any position the header should move up or down relative to switch position ( 1 being lowest cut ) .
There is a spring on LH side ( by the knife drive gearcase towards the LH sidesheet by the SS seals, make sure that is connected to the sensor pad shaft and that the shaft can rotate some, then if this is good, I would start on the electrical side.
