Newdale, Manitoba, Canada
Lots of field variability (thankyou Ma Nature for the hills and potholes!!) means that 99% of guys need to either swath or desicate to even up the field.

Pre-harvest glyphosate is frowned upon for seed producers, malt barley, etc. (Can mess up the germ. Although I've heard of some guys waiting til only a week before harvest and spraying with glyphosate. "Usually" the crop is advanced enough that it won't absorb the glyphosate, but the weeds will die.)

Canola - some guys are desicating or using a seal product, but most are swathing.

Crops that are going to shell easily are often swathed to try to avoid winds - that didn't work in 2012, but usually it does! Canola and Oats are 2 examples here.
