I can remember reading of a patent awarded to John Deere engineer many years ago for a articulated combine.
An articulated machine might be a problem on hilly ground as when you steer uphill the rear end points down hill and it goes down hill faster than the front end goes up hill. Articulated tractors face this same problem when going on the contour on steep hill sides.
