Eastern Iowa | The John Deere rep in this area who had been with the company 30+ years said in the 80's there was a brand new Chevy (or GMC, don't recall for sure any more) 1 ton pickup with a prototype John Deere Diesel engine in it sitting in a building on the tractor factory grounds in Waterloo. He said the truck and engine were cut up and scraped after the venture didn't work out between Deere and GM.
