EC Indiana
We've been running a Gerringhoff Roto-Disc for several years now. the amount of what I would call"destruction" being done to the stalk is amazing. Our fields are some of the closest cut and most "clean" looking fields in our area. Except neighbor who also runs one lol. Our residue breaks down rapidly on its own when we don't till. Our residue binds quickly with the soil like a napkin does on a wet counter. Next spring i feel like our nutrients are more readily available than if our stalks were left standing up straight and tall. remember we are cutting our stalks vertically like a paper shredder and not cutting sideways like most other heads. Our HP requirements are less than our old 893 was. I don't want a bunch of tall unsightly stalks standing around. Looks bad too. I want mine down, chopped, and the nutrients being released asap. JMHO Spencer, EC Indiana BTW we also land roll after planting to push rocks down. the fields look beautiful and our seed to soil contact is great.
