If it got really bad, a rifle and a couple boxes of ammo could be used for quite a bit of barter, even if it's an odd caliber.
I have a 22 Mag that's just way too much fun to sell. I have the exact same one in .22LR as well. It's a Marlin bolt-action, so not really worth that much, but a nice .22.
I did the same here in 22lr and 22 mag. I have a Savage/Anschutz 164 in 22lr and a 164M in 22mag. The 22lr is deadly accurate but I can't find ammo to get descent groups out of the 22 mag. BTW, that 164 in 22lr will be the last one I would ever sell if I had to sell. Joe
