Mind sharing how deep they are at the dam?   How many acre feet of water will they hold and what is the drainage area feeding into them?  Thinking we could do something like this on a couple farms we have if we would just do it. 
 How many cubic yards of dirt did you have to move to build them?



Roughly 20-25' deep at the dam.

I was in 6th grade when those dams were built in '75 & 76. I couldn't tell you how many yards are in the dams. For some reason 25000 yards seems to come to mind. I do know we built the larger dam in 10 days using 3 small scrapers pulled by 2 856 internationals and a 5020 Deere. I pushed the scrapers to load them with a 4020 and front blade. Also had a D-6 and D-7 pushing up Dirt out of the bowl.

Each reservoir drains roughy 250-300 acres. With 40" of annual rainfall they're usually full by December or January. We are 16 inches behind to date.
