We always try to mow around field borders after the crop is out. We fell it helps keeping brush from starting and just "tidies" up the farm. At the same time we mow any waterways that couldn't be mowed during the summer because of growing crops. Not necessarily trying to rent more ground but we do like to keep what we have looking good. Around here it doesn't take long for hedge , soft maple, & mulberry trees to take over a fence row.
