With the Sandy soils with CEC's below 5, I'd recommend that you lime those fields with 1 ton. With such light soils, your winter rains will activate the lime. With your availabity of chicken litter, I'd burn the field off, spread the litter & disk it in & get the wheat in. I'm assuming you're on the coastal plains somewhere. Wheat planting time is running out for the rest of us. The chicken litter will take care of the sulfur requirement of the wheat and your N - P -K. Use a good late winter herbicide program. After the stand is established and wheat contract price is $8 or better, book 35 bu.
