WC MN
I got rained out and didn't get back in until 10 days later on one field. That was good for 4 bushels right there. When I planted each field was planted a couple days later, and later, and later until I finished. I pick away at it because I work a full time job besides. There was 20 days difference in what was planted first and what was planted last. 54 bpa average on the first planted and 38 bpa on what was planted last. Some of the first fields planted are better drained soils with a fair amount of tile so it's not apples to apples but NONE of the later planted fields out yielded any of the early planted. All these fields are in the same township but different sections (5,6, and 8).

The same goes for corn most years. This year was the exception because I had a poor stand due to crusting but that had everything to do with heavy rains followed by 80 degrees and wind.

For this reason, and this reason alone I am upgrading planter capacity this year.
