SW Saskatchewan | The rush to the euro blinded both the "Germans" and other northern European Govts as well the southern softer economies that the benefits of devaluation would not be available to the softer economies.
My wife was visiting Greece when the Euro was being introduced and she was warned buy the tour that one DID NOT want Euro's while shopping in the street. So she reverted to the strategy that had served her elsewhere in the world-US Greenbacks.
But they were as unacceptable to the Greeks as the euro-bring us drachmas or go hungry.
So they didn't willingly enter with a goal of fleecing the savvy Germans, there was a lot of risky business in persuading the adaption of the Euro. | |
