I dug a small trench next to one of our radish rows last Friday and took some pics... 2 should be attached.
Pic 1 shows how tight our radishes were planted... almost 16 per foot because of my error in setting the planter transmission :-<
The trench is about 18" deep
Pic 2 shows a bunch of lateral roots dug out ~ 18" deep a few inches off the row.
