| Where I am from was always told high PH is generally a result of saturated soils that might be benefited by drain tile. We dont have much but small areas and spots.
Low PH is real problem. Bigger yet problem is lime is far enough away that trucking is FAR more expensive than cost of lime, plus time consuming. More cost /benefit ratio friendly when corn and beans are high priced compared to years ago when they are not. Not many trucks can backhaul lime in our area,,,its a one way haul. PLUS lime is only 50% or so effective so doubles amount of hauling/spreading. | |
