Frytown, Iowa

bleedred - 11/11/2012 20:54 Its a whole farm ave of 72 csr. I am shooting for a 200 bpa yield...        We have been all pre plant nh3 and mostly fall applied.

that sounds like a pretty good farm... how far apart is your tile? 50 ft? my first thoughts on the soil compaction was calcium as well, then tile, then cover crops and then last but not least i have a question...

i heard that either NH3 or Kcl tightens up soil... im not sure which it is (maybe someone could answer) but other options of them would be AMS for a fuller season N source and Ksulfate... i believe your soils will love you if you use these products vs the other options...

200 bu/ac. is not unrealistic if you have timely rains and steady N along with good tile... my opinion
