Ottawa Valley, Eastern Ontario
Gotta agree with you Redoak. It seems like the big push is on here in the east too. My guess is that we are 75-80% done in this part of the world. Our custom operator showed up yesterday to do our corn and said that he has 250-300 acres left to do out of approx 1000 of corn. He also does 1000 acres of soys and 2-300 acres of spring grains. When I was riding with him in the combine today he got three phone calls from anxious neighbours wondering when he was coming to there place. I guess the freezing rain and wet snow forecast has got some guys worked up. Elevator space in this area seems to be OK. When I called the elevator I regularly deal with a week ago to try to arrange trucking he didn't seem too interested in sending me trucks.I then arranged to have some stored at another farmer I know. When he found that out the trucks suddenly became available. Hmmm what a coincidence.
