Central PA | If it makes you feel any better GM paid back its loan in June 2010. The US government still owns over $45 billion in preferred and common stock, which it can sell at any time.
Edit. I just saw that Ford still owes about $6 billion.

Overall it looks like the bailout will cost the US about $25 billion.
