Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | As others state Dont buy a 2 piece axle stub, either 1 or 3 bolt. Try to find a used final drive that has had the much stronger "smooth back" axle stub installed. The weaker 1 piece axle I call the "rough back" is not as good.
The final drive side of the axle flange is a smooth machined piece all the way from the axle to the outer diameter of the flange on the "smoothback" axle.
The weaker "rough back" axle has a band of rough forged steel about midway between the smooth machined area at the axle stub and at the outer diameter of the flange.
The "smooth back axle which is much stronger in the radius from axle to flange, which is where they break. They have been avalible for atleast 10 years, so the salvage yards should have some replaced ones. New their $2500 plus bearing and seal are extra.
