Subject: Re: Macdon FD 70 Setup For Lentils

Indian Head, Saskatchewan., Canada
cut around 1000ac of lentils a year, on our 3rd year, and yes some of our ground is pretty rocky. As far as settings go, wheels all the way up, skid shoes at top or middle hole depending on crop stand, usually middle.Angle mostly B/C down pressure 2 or better( try to run down pressure as low as possible and cut hieght as high as possible) .Have not replaced any skid shoes yet, this is on an 8010 , ground speed anywhere from 3-5mph, basically as fast as you can cleanly cut it or what the combine can put through.Hope this helps, running it beside a 30'HB, and in my opionon its a far superior header for feeding and cutting and ground following.
