Subject: Macdon FD 70 Setup For Lentils

NW ND
This is the first year that we are cutting lentils ourselves. We bought a 35' Macdon FD70 but I'm not sure if we are setting it up correct. We seem to be going through the skid shoes every 200 acres or less. Is that normal? If so, we paid about $760 for the shoes. Is there a cheaper alternative?

We have been running around B on the angle and 1-2 on the pressure gauge. I have the skid shoes set to the 2nd hole. We also have the wheels set to 1. Should those be lifted all the way?

We haven't adjusted the float from how the previous owner had it. The torque wrench that they show in the manual didn't have a gauge on ours. I think that comes with newer models.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
