| I was always told that you should never use a grade 5 bolt for shear bolt, always a grade 8 unless specifically recommended otherwise by manufacturer. For the exact reasons listed above by the guy that thought you should only use grade 5. A grade 8 will shear clean under side load, where the softer grade 5 can bend first and make bolt extraction tougher or egg out the hole before breaking. I know that the pto bolt is supposed to be a grade 8, so would guess the one on the auger flight would be also. | |
