w/c Illinois | Depth is not critical as long as it's sealing. If the ground is moist, the NH3 binds to the soil pretty quickly. Really dry soil can gas off even if the slot is covered. Really wet soil will fog out behind the knife and continue to do so for some time because the slot doesn't collapse and close. Going deeper and throwing dirt with disc sealers can help seal in bad conditions. A small puff now and then is not a big deal. If you couldn't stand to be out in it in an open station tractor, you're losing a lot. | |
