Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois | milofarmer1 - 6/10/2012 16:26 We have found the big electric chain saws with a heavy extension cord plugged into the portable welder are much, much, much, much more convenient for occasional use. They always "start". Don't stink. Aren't as noisy. Less vibration.
I have a large and a small Stihl, like them both. However, I bought a $40 electric 22" chainsaw at Menards the other day to use in the yard. Reasoning is my yard use is usually short lived, plug in the saw and use it, don't bother with gasoline mix. I enjoy the quiet operation near the house also. Kinda a stealth operation, neighbors can't hear you doing something, so don't look to see. I have small battery chainsaws for pruning with 8" bars, very handy compared to the big saws and do the job well, easy to carry around to prune.
Big saws have their place, like all things, every job has different requirements.
