Have you ever dug a hole and filled it back up? Never is enough dirt to fill it up. The cut fill ratio means that there is 1.2 yards of "cut" dirt figured to "fill" your fill yards. Hope that explains it. It is a number that can be adjusted to fit your dirt moving style, and the conditions you are in.
