“These are the times that try men's souls.” | Some what common on Brillions, I would just take pipe and bearing holder into machine shop and have them either weld end new pipe onto end, then turn it down in lathe to fit bearing holder & press fit it. Or start with new pipe and do the same. I had to do it a couple of times, but my pipe broke or wore out in the middle.
The biggest problem with Brillions is bale twine getting between packer wheel and pipe, then they quit turning and wear a spot on pipe, packer wheel get wore thin in one spot and breaks. That's what you get when you loan them out. Also for a long time here, a lot of guys would run Brillions on hay ground in spring to knock gopher mounds down and dig hay a little. That would take bearing out faster than you could put them in. Seem to work better in loose, plowed ground. |
