been years since i worked on one. i think the bell end needs to be hard fastened to the tube, may have been pressed in at the factory and the other end has to be smooth so the rollers and clamp can slide off of that end. on the smooth end i believe that bearing had a snap ring to hold bearing in the tube, appears your is wore enough that snap ring may no longer fit?
