What is the reason for the difference in these two sets of numbers above?


Calcium should be a 7:1 ratio with magnesium. If the ratio is less than 4:1 it indicates a biologically deficient soil unless in a high magnesium area.


What soil test numbers qualify as acceptable within the 7:1 ratio?  If a soil test shows 3,789 lb Ca and 541.3 lbs Mg, is that the optimal ratio, or should it be 3,153 lbs Ca : 450.4 lbs Mg?  Is 1 lb Ca : 0.14 lbs Mg equally ok?
