Forty years ago a neighbor flew on ryegrass. Pilot thought he was working shade tobacco and flew way too low. Planted streaks of grass, The ryegrass caused problems for the next 20 years.
Last time I looked Round Up will kill ryegrass if you are quick enough. Rule of thumb is not to seed more than 25% of your pasture ground with ryegrass.
Rye is a crop.
