The number a satilites in view will vary by the hour 5 is on the low end because 4 are needed, and must be and should be if the base is near by the same ones the base is picking up. But if it says it is picking up 5 (it should change ) it sounds like the antenna is functioning. You might check the gps limits (min. number sats, elevation, hdop, etc. to make sure the limits are not set to high or low) Some web sites or trimble's free planning software will give you an idea of how many sats could be availible a given time and location.
