west TN | They ran one in the next county over from us here in west TN last year. We heard about it and rode over. They had a little rent-a-cop security truck at the entrance of the field to keep people out, but we just pulled over on the side of the hiwhway and watched it run. It was across some a railroad bed and fencerow, but there was a clear view.
We watched it spit out 4 or 5 modules. One major thing not mentioned already is that the deere totes the module on a rack on the rear end until it gets to the turnrow, while starting on the next one. Looks funny, but worked good. On the end when he would turn out he would just hesitate and "poop" out the module as he got straight for the next pass. Stopping no more than 5 seconds.
Speaking of the weight, the one we watched was in a muddy field where it was doing a lot of spinning and sliding, but handeled it well. Since the field was muddy they were transporting them up to the entrance and lining them up somehow, but while we were there we never saw them move one, or how they were doing it. Also they were ginned that day at the local gin. I don't think any modifications, except maybe a mexican with a box cutter to cut off the poly wrap :)
The IH one has to drop it when it gets full and I read that the guys running the demo had to estimate whether they could make it to the next end and if not spit it out smaller than normal, or of course just drop them out in the field which would be a headache.
