Starvation, in my opionion there is no doubt people see the beacon and take much more notice than with just the flashers on. Especially at night, which is when you really want them to slow down and be cautious. I also agree with swne they also look cool. When you cannot afford a new tractor that comes with them factory this is the next best thing to make it "feel newer". :)
