I would not recommend Reed Canary grass. We have it in some waterways that we built back in the 60's. Holds well, but gets way too rank to where you can't even get a bush hog through it. We (and NRCS specs) use fescue. Holds good, lots easier to mow. We no-till wheat or rye as a cover after the pan is done shaping, and then blow straw or unroll straw mats down the middle.
