| Jim - Just what is it that a phone needs to be?
Whatever the users demand.
The BB may very well be a perfect fit for someone like yourself. As you said, it is much more a business device than an entertainment device. The thing is, the majority of the smartphone market these days want both - they want to be able to message, email, and surf the net - as well as take pics, play music, games, etc. A really GOOD smartphone will appeal to all of the above. So far, none of them are durable enough for rugged farm use without the use of a good case, IMO.
If the iPhone and Android phones had never came along, the BB would still have the smartphone market wrapped up. The cold, hard, truth of the matter is they are losing out due to their inability or unwillingness to change with the market. BB's are still very popular in the corporate world, but that is changing now too. Since the iPhone and Android phones have become so popular, developers are concentrating their efforts on writing apps for them and not the BB. There are a lot of really decent buisiness-orientated apps out there for the competition - and corporations are looking more and more in that direction. |
