I would be concerned about your hard drive if I were you. 9 years old and starting to make noises I had not heard before sounds like the start of a potential failure. Your chips may last nearly forever in a computer, but the HDD is a mechanical piece of equipment, with spinning bearings, etc. I don't have to tell anyone here that bearings and motors have a finite life.
HDD's are cheap now you may consider swapping it out, or I would at least have daily incremental backups.
btw..I don't agree anyone should run without AV or anti-spyware software...but if it works for you.... | |
