Subject: RE: farm works or quick books?

West Union, Illinois

I'm using quicken as an electronic check register and keep field records on spreadsheets.  I think before going to QuickBooks I'd look toward a more farm oriented system.

If you are willing to make it work Farmworks will tell you more than you probably want to know. Farmworks may be something to look hard at if you want to tie GPS into your field records.  They are now a division of Trimble. They can do some amazing stuff, but you have to be willing to put the effort into it to make it work. I used to use Farmworks FarmTrac for field records.  Worked great.  I tried upgrading to FarmFunds for accounting and never could get it implemented.  I think the problem is more on my end than theirs.  I'm set in my ways enough I didn't want to change to make it work.   http://www.farmworks.com /

There are some other software packages you might consider. If I were to change my bookkeeping system AgMIS is one I would have to consider. http://www.agmis.com/

I don't know much about these next 2, but I will mention them so you can look and make your own opinion.  Both have downloadable demo's.

Farm Files looks interesting see them at http://www.farmfiles.com

Farm Biz is another one you may want to consider http://www.farmbiz.com/
