Western CO | If I understand correctly this is the very first time you've hooked it up for initial setup? Just off the top of my head I'm thinking you may need a newer version of iTunes? Other than that maybe try holding the power button on the iPad till it powers down and then try hooking it up again. That's just a couple of things I thought of. One more thing, is iTunes running on the iMac? If not it may not be set to start when you sync any device? If iTunes is running what if anything shows up on iTunes?
