But, I can't even get to a C prompt to do so. What are some ways to run a BIOS update?? The machine is an Acer Aspire 3960. Getting to the BIOS is not a problem. If the thing was working before, I doubt the current version of the bios is your problem unless you added hardware that needs a newer version. Say, a SATA hard drive and your bios had bugs in that area of drive support. Tell us more about the symptoms. Where exactly does it get stalled?
