West Union, Illinois | Ryan Borcherding - ...I decided to move on to something simpler This is one of the reasons I use Quicken, I hate to reinvent something already made that is working.to what level do you track your expenses? Do you just do major things like car, home/living, groceries, medical and miscellaneous? Or do you keep track of what you spend on meat, fruit, toilet paper, gas, oil changes, etc? I guess it depends on what you want to know. If you want to know how much you spend on toilet paper and fresh fruit then go ahead and track it. I tried tracking personal expenses that closely, but found it was just worthless information. You end up spending valuable time entering data that you don't use.I would suggest tracking medical expenses (Dr visits, prescriptions, etc) even though it may not be of value right now. Chances are at some point in your life there will be a time when your med expenses will be enough that taking an itemized deduction on your taxes is a good choice. It's a lot easier to work with if you already have the data in place.
