I think I would go with something like GnuCash. It is free, open source and has versions for Linus, Windows and Mac. I used to use Quicken, but online banking is good enough for me.
Then there is http://www.mint.com/. This is web based. If you can get to the internet, you can get to your information. I don't use this because I don't want everybody else on the internet to know my business.
