Colby, KS | Well, S-Video only carries video, not audio. I have no idea how you got sound on one tv and not the other. There should have been no audio on either.

The color issue is going to be a color mode setting in the TV showing black and white. If it is adjustable, it has the ability to change the color determination method for the "AV" channels between NTSC and PAL and automatic. It will most likely need to be NTSC or auto to work with your laptop. If it doesn't have a way to change the setting, you're out of luck with that set unless you want to cut up and modify a couple cables like it talks about here:
