| This may be a lost discussion. His motherboard may not even have a RAID controller ................. If he is interested that would be the first question that needs answered.
There are multiple types of RAID .......... some build for speed, some for redundancy . some for both. No HDD is failure proof ................... thinking that they are is just setting yourself up for a nasty loss of data.
I believe you have pointed him to a SAS drive ................ this will not work if he has a standard SATA controller .................. a SATA drive could be attached to a SAS controler using a continuous connector ............... but a SAS drive cannnot be attached to a SATA controller.
To answer the original question .................. I prefer Seagate drives ............... truth is that WD makes great drives as well ...........
