That explains why your processor is at roughly 50%. As was mentioned by CountryJJ, running msconfig and seeing what starts up when you boot up would likely be a safer way of stopping things from running than killing tasks.
Stopping them from running using msconfig gives you the option of them staying stopped when you reboot, or you re-enabling them starting up if you want them to.
