This is a great protection suite that has it all. But you need to remember, this is just a GENERAL antivirus protection.
I also use Malwarebytes (FREE, no need to buy this, just install, update and run the scan):

And another freeware called Spybot search and destroy:

If your machine is working ok, rin the two freeware (Malwarebytes and Spybot search and destroy).
If you have the expensive out of the box security, you are going to be VERY angry at what these two programs find on your machine.
100% promise they will find something.
And yes, I do indeed run a computer business. I will give general tips and tricks, but there are things that I will not get detailed about. Some are just too complicated. If you have the one of the Rouge Antivirus worms (the one's that hijack your entire system), the fix is well beyond the scope of this forum.
Best advice for APEX is crank up as much RAM as you can, get rid of all your bloatware, run the above scans and remove all infections and defrag you drive when you are done.
Also check to see how many processes your machine is running after it boots up.
