MD | First, the WiMAX network here was started as a co-op with lots of gov. grants. Not the best way to start a successful business. Second, the original tower radio equipment was supposed to be able to handle much more traffic than it actually could. This led to limiting the number of subscribers, and therefore not enough $$ could be generated to operate the system.
Supposedly a private company is interested in buying the remnants and operating it in the future. But the signal goes away next week.
