I've had my Janome 5500 for 20 years, and love it. I've sewn everything from curtains to quilts and bridal gowns to mending coveralls. And, since she's married to a farmer, it needs to do that as well :) When she gets to loving the sewing, she will ask you for a Serger, another lovely toy. Pfaff is a good brand.
