IDK about what they use but I can get by very well cutting 3 inch thick mild steel with conventional oxg n acetylene #2 tip. I worked over 18 years at a steel mill. The torches at the continuous caster were natural gas and oxygen. They would cut 20 inch beam blanks when they were still warm.
