| I asked a year ago about what you all recommended after seeing acres of seeds at inconsistent depths. I didn't use either rebounders or firmers last year. Today I got the planter out and ran a few acres at varying speeds with 2 rows of rebounders and 2 rows of low stick keeton seed firmers. I did see seeds scattered throughout the furrow profile on the other rows again... especially above 6/7 mph. both the firmers and the rebounders kept the seed at the bottom of the furrow pretty consistently.
My question is again... which one would you choose? The rebounders are simple and inexpensive but I don't know their longevity or their drawbacks. The firms are more complex and expensive but seem more robust, easily replaceable and maybe perform slightly better?? hard to tell. The pressing action is definitely noticeable compared to the rebounders but not sure if that totally worth twice the cost. | |
