EC SoDak | The way I look at it this year is if someone had open grain and planned to deliver later this spring or early summer and the basis isn’t unattractive, it may make sense to set a basis contract now/soonish for that timeframe. The reason why is I believe many folks are waiting to price grain during the typical spring/early summer bump, which could absolutely destroy basis during that timeframe. The talk of rolling March basis contracts to May probably confirms some of that idea that there is a bit of unpriced grain just waiting for the bump.
