Malta, Illinois | Too early to panic just yet but the overall dryness is a concern. I haven't researched it but I would think subsoil moisture profiles now must be similar to March of 2012. Just in time rains in 2011 did little to build subsoil moisture and the same was true in 2023. A lot hinges on what if any rain we see in March. They say we are entering an El'Nino which is rarely good for midwest weather in the spring and summer months. Higher average temps are something we are going to have to get used to. That is the new norm. | |
