| Dave, that sort of service ended in this part of the country about 1975. NY has so many assinine environmental regulations a motorshop is almost impossible to operate.
One of my parts machines began it's life in Odenbach Shipyard here, making YF Tankers for the Army in 1942. I got that machine in the 60s, wound 440 only, and pulled it apart to turn the commutator and reconnect the windings. I got a good 10 years out of the machine after that, so it really doesn't owe me. Coffee grinders are loud, and don't have touchscrene controls, so the kids today think they ain't good welders. Thanks to that reasoning, the machines are close to free at auctions. | |
